What Is Pay-for-Delete?

Pay-for-delete (PFD) is a negotiation strategy where you offer to pay a debt in exchange for the collector removing it from your credit report.

Step-by-Step Process

Send a debt validation letter first — Establish your position

Research the debt — Know the statute of limitations

Calculate your offer — Start at 25-40% of the balance

Send a written PFD offer — Never agree verbally

Get written confirmation — Before sending any payment

Pay with money order — Don't give access to your bank account

Verify removal — Check all three reports after 30 days

Success Rate
